What is Implant?

A Dental Implant is an artificial tooth root post made of titanium, a very strong material that resembles the look of a screw. There is a crown installed on top, which is the part that is visible in the mouth. This implant replaces the missing tooth. The dentist carefully inserts the implant post into the jaw bone where the titanium then fuses with the bone over time. A good foundation is needed to add the crown. The crown is installed on top of the implant and is the visible part of your new tooth.

What are the Dental implants Benefits?

Implants are made to match natural teeth and help improve the look of your smile restoring your confidence and appearance. They can improve speech and allow you to eat favorite foods that you have not been able to enjoy before. With the dental implant process there is no need to have adjacent teeth invasively altered for support like in other restorations. Using proper care implants can last several years to a lifetime for a good investment in your smile and function.

Your experience at Brook Hollow Family Dentistry

Dr. Chauhan will do a thorough examination to determine dental compatibility. Gum and jawbone health are important. It must also be determined if there is enough bone to place the implant. Bone can be reduced by years of living with missing teeth.

Anesthesia will be used so that you don’t feel anything but pressure during the procedure. The first part of the implant is placed into the bone. The area must heal for up to several months. Impressions of the teeth/implant area will be taken and sent to a lab for fabrication of the final crown. Patients will have a temporary crown in place while the lab is creating the permanent one. Finally, your specially made crown is attached to the implant and checked by Dr. Chauhan to ensure proper and comfortable fit.
